East African Ocean Explorers Launches!

We are very excited announce the launch of East African Ocean Explorers! Our aim is to explore the marine life off the East African coast and educate those along the coast about the beauty of what lives below the waves.

Our oceans are vital to sustain life, and there is still so little known about this underwater world, especially along the East African coast. Locals along our coastline can see the changes; the fish that used to be so plentiful are becoming less and less, so anything that is available is being caught and new destructive methods are being used just to put a meal on the table. These communities have been living off the ocean for centuries and having very little impact and to them the main influence causing these changes is mostly unseen. Many of the people living in coastal communities haven't even been in the ocean, let alone seen what life is like underwater. With out having seen the beauty and the affects, or being educated on why it is changing makes it hard to understand and change.

Through this organisation we want provide a platform that inspires Ocean Ambassadors. By providing education of our oceans mainly to local communities, through films, excursions, workshop and skills development programs. As well as providing opportunities and guidance to those who want to find a career from the ocean. We will be working with local conservation organisations to help tell the story of our ocean and what steps can be taken to improve smaller marine ecosystems, which will in turn help on a larger scale.

In order to achieve this we will be exploring the East African coast to capture the underwater world, through film and photography. This footage will be used to make educational films that show case the beauty and fragility of our oceans, as well as creating an archive of the the current state of our ever changing ocean.

So follow us to explore the beauty of the underwater world off the East African coast and learn about what you can do to make a difference; if you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us!
